World Milk Day

Introduction

World Milk Day has been marked since 2001, when it was established by the United Nations (UN). The day recognises the importance of milk and the dairy industry, and aims to bring attention to the sector.

Organisations and businesses connected to the dairy sector hold events to promote the industry. Since 2020, much of this activity has been online, with the UN encouraging people to use social media.

Teaching Ideas and Resources

  • Design an online campaign to promote milk and dairy products.
  • Make a recipe that includes milk, such as custard a sauce.
  • Create a poster advertising a dairy product.
  • Visit the Arla Open Farm to learn more about dairy farming.
  • Younger children will enjoy watching his BBC video showing how milk gets from the farm to the ship.
