World Blood Donor Day

June 14

Event Series Event Series (See All)

World Blood Donor Day is marked on June 14th every year. The World Health Organization organises the event. The day is set aside to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and also to raise awareness about the need for blood donation.

Blood is a vital part of our body; it delivers oxygen and food around the body, removes waste products, keeps your body warm and fights off diseases.

Sometimes, when people are very ill or have surgery, they need blood. Blood donors are volunteers who donate blood. Hospitals depend on blood donors to provide the blood they need for their patients.
