International Children’s Book Day

April 2

International Children's Book Day

International Children’s Book Day is held around the 2nd of April every year. The date was chosen to coincide with Hans Christian Anderson’s birthday. He was a famous Danish author, best remembered for his fairy tales such as The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Ducking. The event is organised annually by the International Board on Books for Young People, to inspire a love of reading.

Events include writing competitions and book awards. Each year, an author from the sponsor country writes a message, and an illustrator from that country designs a poster for the event.

How would you answer the questions put to the children in this video?
